Idea leuconoe
clara (white tree nymph)
The caterpillar of this species feasts on plants poisonous to
many species, which makes the resultant butterfly toxic to
would-be predators. The white tree nymph's wings are 15 cm
wingtip to wingtip when spread out, meaning that it is one of
the larger butterfly species. Its sluggish flight has earned
it the nickname "big clumsy butterfly." |
