With election day officially here, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) traveled early to their respective polling stations.

Lai, together with his wife Wu Mei-ju (吳玫如), went back to his hometown in Tainan City early this morning and went to the Anping Junior High School polling station to cast their vote.

Lai took the opportunity to also deliver a speech before his vote. He encouraged people across the country to go vote enthusiastically to show the vibrancy of Taiwan’s democracy and allow Taiwan to continue moving forward. He also said that he cherishes every vote as democracy is hard won.

DPP vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) also went to vote early in the morning on Saturday. She went to the Yongping Elementary School in New Taipei City to cast her ballot. Hsiao said she hopes everyone will go vote as Taiwan’s democracy is precious.
