Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua (王美花) and her delegation kicked off a trip to Japan on Wednesday, with the aim of increasing cooperation in the semiconductor industry. Details of the trip were released by the ministry in a press release on Wednesday.

The delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the Taiwan Expo in Tokyo, as well as a forum on bilateral semiconductor cooperation. The Taiwan Expo will promote a number of Taiwanese products as well as Taiwan tourism.

Wang will also attend the 50th anniversary celebration of Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). The ministry says that Wang will hold discussions with business leaders aimed at promoting technological exchanges between Taiwanese and Japanese companies.

The ministry says that bilateral trade between Japan and Taiwan has reached new highs in recent years and that improving cooperation in technology and manufacturing can take economic relations even further.
