Filipino Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo reiterated the Philippines' position that any issues between Taiwan and China should be resolved peacefully so as to not affect the more than 100,000 Filipinos who live and work in Taiwan. Manalo made the statement while attending the Regional Outlook Forum 2025 in Singapore on Thursday.

Taiwan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hsiao Kuang-wei (蕭光偉) responded, saying Taiwan welcomes joint maintenance of the rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific region. The ministry further pointed out that Filipino President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and other senior government officials have recently called for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

Italian Chamber of Deputies Finance Committee Chairman Marco Osnato, who led a delegation to Taiwan on Friday, said that their visit shows the friendship and support of the Italian Parliament for Taiwan. Osnato added that he hopes the two countries will continue to strengthen future exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, culture, and more.

The Foreign Ministry stated that it hopes the international community will continue to express its concerns through concrete actions.
