French lawmaker: Taiwan’s security is a global issue

French lawmaker Eric Bothorel said Taiwan&39;s Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦) on Wednesday.

Bothorel, who chairs the France-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, led a delegation to Taiwan on Monday.  

He said that Taiwan's energy resources, freedom, and safety are of ultimate importance. He hopes that the Taiwanese people can continue to live peacefully and elect their own leaders. 

Bothorel said that the delegation was able to meet with French businesses in Taiwan. He expressed gratitude that French enterprises are able to set up factories in Taiwan. He looks forward to Taiwanese businesspeople being able to invest in France. 

Bothorel said that with this visit he hopes to let all French people know that Taiwan wants peace and stability, and Taiwan's best bet to avoid war is to first strengthen itself.  He said he hopes like-minded countries will continue to support Taiwan. 

Bothorel said that his visit to Taiwan has resulted in closer France-Taiwan relations and that they should be continued moving forward.
