International music streaming platform Spotify revealed its 2024 year-end review on Thursday. Jay Chou (周杰倫) continues to dominate the global Chinese music scene's streaming landscape. The Taiwanese pop idol Jay Chou has secured the top spot in the most-streamed Chinese language artist category for the second year globally, and sixth consecutive year in Taiwan.

According to Spotify's statistics, Chinese pop music successfully connected with global audiences in 2024, expanding its reach to emerging markets including Nigeria, Egypt, and Estonia. The top ten most-streamed Chinese artists globally featured four Taiwanese performers: Jay Chou in first place, Eric Chou (周興哲) in fourth, Mayday (五月天) in sixth, and Accusefive (告五人) in tenth. Other notable artists include JJ Lin (林俊傑) in second, Eric Mok in third, and Jackie Cheung in seventh.

Spotify’s 2024 global charts showcased Jay Chou’s songs “Step Aside” and “Clear Day” and his collaboration with Mayday’s lead singer Ashin (阿信) on “Won’t Cry,” which ranked fifth, seventh, and tenth, respectively. Emerging artists also made their mark, like Bestards’ (理想混蛋) “Farewell” reaching the fourth place and WeiBird’s “Red Scarf” securing the sixth spot.
