The Taiwanese non-profit organization Kuma Academy hosted The Global Leaders Forum on Civil Defense and Resilience on Wednesday, bringing together domestic and international civil defense leaders. The forum aimed to enhance Taiwan's civil defense awareness by sharing insights from the Ukraine-Russia war and defense strategies from Western countries.
Kuma Academy Co-founder and DPP Legislator Puma Shen (沈伯洋) emphasized the importance of countering misinformation, noting the similarities between the challenges faced by Ukraine and Taiwan. He stressed the need for international collaboration to counter authoritarian regimes' information and legal tactics.
Shen says countries must share intelligence and coordinate responses, citing significant cooperation between authoritarian states like North Korea, Russia, and China. He says that uniting with allies is a necessity.
Newly appointed Digital Affairs Minister Huang Yen-nun (黃彥男) and National Police Agency Deputy Director-General Chan Yung-Mao (詹永茂) also attended. Huang stated that the forum could enhance Taiwan&39;s (賴清德) policy of building Taiwan into a “smart island”.
