Philippine Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan arrived in Taiwan with a delegation on Thursday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release Friday, stating that Pangilinan is visiting in his capacity as chair of the Philippine Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform to exchange views on agricultural development.

During his stay, Pangilinan will meet with government officials and legislators to discuss ways to enhance substantive relations between Taiwan and the Philippines. He will also visit agricultural facilities to promote cooperation and exchanges in the sector.

The Foreign Ministry expressed its sincere welcome to Pangilinan, noting that Taiwan and the Philippines are geographically close partners who share the values of democracy and freedom. The ministry said it will continue to strengthen bilateral ties based on existing deep cooperation, and looks forward to achieving mutually beneficial results in smart agriculture, semiconductor technology, and green energy.

This marks Pangilinan’s second visit to Taiwan, following an invitation from the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats in August to represent the friendly partnership between the two countries.
