Taiwan took home one gold, six silver, and six bronze medals at the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, an international sporting event for elite deaf athletes that dates back to the 1900s. The games concluded this Tuesday, with a closing ceremony to take place on Wednesday.

Taiwan’s women’s bowling team, comprised of Chang Yao-Chien (張堯茜), Wang Yu-chin (王玉琴), Lin Ya-chin (林雅琴), and Chen I-miao (陳怡妙), was able to secure Taiwan’s only gold medal at this competition with their win in the finals against South Korea. Taiwan also medaled in table tennis and badminton.

President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) congratulated the athletes and coaches, expressing his gratitude for their hard work and encouraging them to continue bringing glory to Taiwan.
