The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada held its annual "Taiwan Night" event on Tuesday at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building, a parliamentary event space, with nearly 400 participants. Dozens of Canadian parliament members and federal government officials were in attendance in addition to nearly 30 diplomats from 15 countries.

Organizers said they tried to showcase all aspects of Taiwan by featuring a performance by Tainan’s Tendrum Art Percussion Group, offering guests refreshments of Kavalan whiskey and bubble tea, and allowing the visitors to take home orchids grown by a Taiwanese businessman in Canada.

Taiwan-Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair Judy Sgro and Senator Michael MacDonald delivered speeches, expressing their hope to continue deepening bilateral relations.

Taiwan’s Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Chen Ming-chi (陳明祺) and Economic Deputy Minister Cynthia Kiang (江文若) were also in attendance. Representative to Canada Harry Ho-jen Tseng (曾厚仁) expressed gratitude to the attendees for their strong support of Taiwan. Looking to the future, he said he hopes for more comprehensive, long-term, and resilient cooperations between Taiwan and Canada.
