In a social media post, Thursday, November 27, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) stated that both France and Taiwan's national security guidelines reflect democratic countries’ awareness of the need to enhance citizen risk awareness and resilience. He said that Taiwan's efforts in responding to information warfare and building social resilience are gaining international recognition, and Taiwan is willing to share its experience with the world.
French President Emmanuel Macron recently noted that Taiwan, even in the face of attacks from neighboring authoritarian states, has established an effective system to combat disinformation, a model worthy of emulation by France. He said this ahead of a scheduled visit to China from December 3 to 5, when he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平).
Lin pointed out that in recent years, facing various information manipulation challenges, Taiwan has gradually built social resilience through education, transparent mechanisms, and citizen participation. From the government to the public, from media literacy to fact-checking, Taiwan has demonstrated through action that "democracy can be very resilient and safe," he said.
The foreign minister stated that like-minded countries around the world recognize that, in an era full of uncertainty, it is essential to enhance the risk awareness and resilience of every citizen. Lin emphasized that Taiwan is willing and prepared to share its experience and hopes to jointly safeguard the international order of free and democratic values through international cooperation.
