The newly completed temporary overnight apron for Taoyuan International Airport’s third runway was unveiled this Wednesday. Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) said the 18.9-hectare apron will be able to accommodate 16 aircraft in the future, helping to meet the airport’s steadily growing passenger traffic.
Chen added that with Taiwan-U.S. tariff negotiations now finalized, the facility will further enhance cargo transportation efficiency between the two countries, especially during the Lunar New Year period. He said he hopes the activation of the temporary overnight apron can improve turnaround efficiency and expand parking capacity.
The apron is intended to support the airport’s operation as they finish construction of the third runway, which is expected to officially enter service on January 30, just ahead of the holiday season.
