Internationally renowned Argentine-born artist Tomás Saraceno will hold his first large-scale solo exhibition in Taiwan this March at the New Taipei City Art Museum (NTCAM).
The show, titled “Interwoven,” responds to global questions about sustainability, ecology, and the future of humanity. It will occupy the museum’s sixth-floor gallery space and include pieces spanning more than two decades of the artist’s work.
NTCAM Director Lai Hsiang-ling (賴香伶) pointed out that although Saraceno’s works have been shown sporadically in Taiwan in the past, this will be the first time he will host a complete solo exhibition. She said Saraceno’s work occupies a key position in the international art scene because it stands at the intersection of art, science, and ecological reflection.
Saraceno’s synergistic artworks are informed by his background in architecture, his studies at NASA, and previous experience as an artist-in-residence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Several of his most representative works will be shown, including series inspired by spider webs and large-scale installations that combine transparent spheres with the concept of floating. His works invite viewers to physically roam the installations and consider their place in the world and its future.
