Kaohsiung Metro's fluffy mascot, "Station Master Mikan the Cat," has unveiled two new adorable outfits. One features a golden tiger robe and matching hat, while the other is inspired by the traditional Mazu parade uniforms from the Beigang Chaotian Temple in Yunlin. Mikan will greet travelers at the MRT Ciaotou Station on January 31 and February 18, the second day of the new Lunar New Year.
Dressed in his tiger outfit, complete with a regal hat and cute cat ears, Mikan melts hearts with his wide, innocent eyes. The second outfit transforms him into a charming participant in a temple procession, though his oversized head causes the hat to slip off, adding to his appeal.
The Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC) announced that a special themed train featuring Mikan designs will run from January 24 through April 30. This marks KRTC’s first collaboration with the Beigang Chaotian Temple, creatively blending Taiwan’s temple parade culture with public transit.
According to Mikan's fan designer, Xiao Kong (小空), the handmade costumes took a month to create. Fans are already expressing interest in merchandise versions, particularly the tiger robe outfit, praising how Mikan looks "just like a little tiger." Mikan’s endearing charm continues to attract crowds and inspire a wave of cat-themed collectibles across Kaohsiung.
