Microsoft Taiwan on Tuesday introduced a new carbon management platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The platform, called iCX (Intelligent Carbon Exchange), is designed to help SMEs reduce their carbon emissions and comply with international standards.

Economic Affairs Ministry’s Industrial Development Administration Secretary General Lin Der-sheng (林德生) says that SMEs face several challenges in reducing their carbon emissions, including the lack of resources and expertise. Nonetheless, the government is promoting policies to help SMEs align with green supply chains to achieve Taiwan’s net-zero emissions target by 2050.

Accounting firm PwC in Taiwan says the platform is also designed to help SMEs access green financing opportunities. By integrating with financial institutions and other industry partners, the platform can help SMEs connect with green finance products and services. Additionally, the platform's powerful data analysis and forecasting capabilities can help companies more accurately predict and simulate the effects of different carbon reduction strategies, significantly reducing the costs and risks of IT investments for small and medium enterprises.
