Foreign Minister and acting Special Presidential Envoy Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said on social media on Wednesday, April 8, that Taiwan would contribute an additional US$1 million to the Marshall Islands’ Kora im an Kil Fund aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs.

Lin is currently visiting the island nation, one of Taiwan’s 12 diplomatic allies. The Kora Fund was established in 2021, with the first recipient awarded a loan under the scheme in early 2022.

Lin is accompanied on his trip by business and government agency representatives, hoping to further implement the provisions of the Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) between the two countries, which came into effect in January 2025. Lin said he attended an investment opportunities briefing, during which Marshall Islands’ Minister of Natural Resources and Commerce Tony Muller called Taiwan a trustworthy development partner and expressed gratitude for Taiwan’s long-standing support for the Marshall Islands’ development initiatives.
