Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said in a social media statement on Sunday, April 19, that he hopes Taiwan, the United States and the Philippines can use their industrial advantages to strengthen the resilience of global democratic supply chains.
The statement came after Lin hosted a reception for the visiting delegation from the think tank Council on Foreign Relations on Friday, April 17. The group of over 20 experts was led by the organization’s Fellow for Asia Studies David Sacks.
Lin said he places particular emphasis on economic diplomacy. He said the U.S. and the Philippines recently announced plans to establish a 4,000-acre Economic Security Zone in the Luzon Economic Corridor. He highlighted the U.S.’s world-leading technological capabilities, Taiwan’s comprehensive manufacturing environment and the Philippines’ abundant land and highly-trained workforce. He said integrating those advantages will help strengthen the resilience of global democratic supply chains and promote regional peace and prosperity.
