The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta and the Citadel Military College of South Carolina jointly hosted the U.S.-Taiwan Security Cooperation Conference on the grounds of the military academy on Thursday, April 16, local time.

In a press release on Monday, April 20, the Taipei Economic and Cultural office in Atlanta said around 250 people attended the event. One of the speakers was the Taiwan Representative to the United States Alexander Tah-ray Yui (俞大㵢). Yui said that the Taiwan Strait is a vital hub for global trade and shipping, and that up to 90% of the world’s most advanced semiconductors are produced in Taiwan. He said that if China were to blockade Taiwan, it would severely impact the global economy and security.
