Singapore and the Philippines announced on Wednesday, April 29, that they will resume imports of pork products from Taiwan. This comes after the World Organization for Animal Health recognized Taiwan as free of three major swine diseases on April 6.

Singapore and the Philippines say they will resume imports of breeding pigs, porcine semen, frozen pork, offal and pig skin effective from May 14. This follows Taiwan’s successful efforts to contain the African swine fever outbreak in 2025. In April, WOAH officially declared Taiwan free of three swine diseases: the foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever and African swine fever.

The Agriculture Ministry says it will continue to promote Taiwanese pork globally and enhance consumer awareness of its safety and quality. It says it will also continue to seek opportunities to develop potential export markets such as Japan and Malaysia through government resources and private sector efforts.
