The Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday, April 30, that Paraguayan President Santiago Peña will lead a delegation on a state visit to Taiwan from May 7 to 10. 

President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will welcome Peña with military honors and a state banquet on May 8. Lai will also present him with the Order of Brilliant Jade to recognize Peña’s contributions to developing Taiwan-Paraguay relations. This will be the Paraguayan president’s second visit to Taiwan since taking office in August 2023.

During his stay, Peña will witness the signing of several bilateral cooperation and exchange agreements, visit the Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau and receive an honorary doctorate from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. A number of ministers, government officials and industry representatives will accompany the president on his visit.
