Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), along with a cross-party delegation of legislators and Taiwan’s representative to France Hao Pei-chih (郝培芝), visited the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) think tank on Monday, May 11. This was part of Han’s ongoing trip to France and the United Kingdom to promote parliamentary diplomacy.

During a meeting with experts, Taiwanese legislators emphasized that safeguarding Taiwan’s democracy, strengthening defense capabilities and maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait are unanimous goals of the Legislature, transcending party lines.

Han expressed hope that various sectors in France would assist Taiwan in enhancing its international visibility in three key areas: speaking out for Taiwan at the UN Security Council, increasing visits to Taiwan by French delegations to deepen mutual relations and French universities establishing branch campuses in Taiwan.
