Taiwan and the United States partnered with Belize to host an international cybersecurity workshop under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF), expanding cooperation with allies in Central America. The event, titled “Cybersecurity in the Age of AI,” was held on Wednesday, May 13, local time and brought together about 150 participants.
The workshop gathered cybersecurity experts from Taiwan and the United States, along with senior officials and representatives from government, industry, and academia in Belize. Discussions focused on strengthening protections for cyberspace and artificial infrastructure amid AI-driven, increasingly complex cyber threats.
The opening ceremony was jointly hosted by Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize Amino C.Y. Chi (紀欽耀), U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Katharine Beamer, and Belizean Minister of State Osmond Martinez. Chien said Taiwan will continue working with like-minded partners to build a secure, open, and resilient digital environment.
The Foreign Ministry said Taiwan has held similar GCTF cybersecurity events in Guatemala and Belize, underscoring its commitment to enhancing digital governance and cyber resilience among partners in Latin America.
