Polish Deputy Ministry of Economic Development and Technology Michał Jaros visited the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application Research and Development Center in Taiwan’s southern Chiayi County on Monday, May 18.
The Chiayi Economic Development Department said in a press release that a number of local companies showcased their drone R&D achievements and engaged with the Polish delegation to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the drone industry.
Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) said that drones have become a key strategic technology at the intersection of national defense, smart governance, industrial competitiveness, and democratic supply chains. He added that Poland’s drone industry is dominated by large companies, whereas Taiwan’s is still mostly composed of small and medium-sized enterprises. Weng noted, however, that Taiwan has unique advantages in fields such as information and communications technology, optics, and semiconductors which, when coupled with support from the central government, can accelerate its expansion into the international drone market.
