Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley says Taiwan warned the world about the Covid-19 pandemic, while China lied and silenced doctors. That came in a social media post on Wednesday, May 20, in relation to Taiwan being excluded from the ongoing World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva.

Haley noted that Taiwan has been excluded from WHA, which is the governing body of the World Health Organization (WHO), for 10 years running due to demands from Beijing. She added that Taiwan told the truth, while Beijing covered it up, but the UN rewarded China anyway.

WHO member states rejected the proposal to invite Taiwan to WHA on May 18 after China said it will block its participation. From 2009 to 2016 Taiwan participated in WHA meetings as an observer under the name Chinese Taipei.
