AMD will invest over US$10 billion in Taiwan’s AI ecosystem. That came in an interview with AMD CEO Lisa Su on Thursday, May 21.
Su said that AI infrastructure requires massive investments and must be driven by the entire ecosystem working together. That is why AMD is planning to invest US$10 billion in expanding production capacity for chips, packaging, advanced packaging, substrates, and rack systems.
Su noted that demand for artificial intelligence is exceeding expectations, which is in turn increasing the demand for CPUs and GPUs. She said now is the right time to invest in Taiwan’s supply chains.
AMD also announced its next-generation EPYC multi-core processors aimed at the server and embedded systems markets. They will use TSMC’s 2-nanometer process.
