Taiwan’s national power grid will experience no issues with electricity supply throughout this summer. That statement came from Taiwan Power Company’s Chief Administrator Huang Mei-lien (黃美蓮) on Tuesday, May 26, in response to concerns from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳).

On Monday, Jensen Huang said in an answer to a reporter’s question that Taiwan needs more power to satisfy future demand from AI data centers and that without power there is no economic growth. 

On Tuesday, Taipower’s Huang Mei-lien said that the company refines and conducts rolling reviews of electricity demand every year and it expects no issues with supply throughout this summer. She added that there is a reserve margin of around 10% during daytime and 7% during nighttime peak hours.

Also on Tuesday, Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) said at the Legislature that according to Taiwan Power Company’s estimations, there will be no shortage of electricity in Taiwan until 2032.
