Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that after HQ construction is completed, they will recruit thousands more Taiwanese. However, when asked about the future energy needs of the data center, Huang emphasized that "Taiwan needs more energy."

Nvidia officially launched its headquarters at Beitou-Shilin Technology Park on Wednesday, marking a milestone for the chipmaker’s expanding presence on the island. CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) attended a company-wide employee gathering at the site, where crews had spent days setting up large white tents in preparation for the celebration.

Nvidia's Taiwan workforce has grown rapidly in recent years, rising from 1,100 employees in 2024 to 1,800 in 2025 and surpassing 2,000 this year. Huang said the headcount will continue to climb, pledging to hire thousands more once construction of the full campus is complete.

The expansion reflects a broader AI-driven boom benefiting Taiwan's technology sector. The Taiwan Stock Exchange's total market capitalization reached $4.95 trillion as of Monday, May 25, making it the world's fifth-largest equity market, surpassing India and trailing only the United States, China, Japan, and Hong Kong.

However, Huang flagged energy supply as a critical concern, warning that Taiwan must secure more power to sustain its economic momentum. Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) responded by guaranteeing a stable electricity supply through 2032, as the island races to build out AI data center infrastructure capable of meeting surging global demand.
