The 2026 Computex trade show kicked off in Taipei on Tuesday, June 2, with President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) attending the opening ceremony. This year’s event is themed “AI Together” and focuses on artificial intelligence, robotics, and next-generation technologies.

Lai said in his remarks at the ceremony that Computex broke attendance records this year with over 6,000 booths and 1,500 companies from 33 countries. He added that global tech leaders visiting Taiwan and announcing plans to invest over the past years shows the international community’s high regard and trust in the country’s technical capabilities and democratic system.

Lai highlighted the government’s various forms of support for the industry in response to the skyrocketing demand for computing power, advanced manufacturing, and AI infrastructure. Those include attracting international talent, securing water and electricity supplies, and supporting research and development. Lai said that, externally, AI is a way to collaborate with trusted global partners to build a secure, resilient, and prosperous future. Internally, it ensures that industries, households, and future generations can all share in the benefits of technological progress.
