Competitors hoping to catch up with the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) are “dreaming.” That came from TSMC Chairman C. C. Wei (魏哲家) on Thursday, June 4, at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting.

Wei said that Taiwan has the world’s most comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, with a complete supply chain spanning wafer fabrication, packaging and testing, and system integration. This is the result of years of accumulation and cannot be replicated elsewhere in the short term. Even as semiconductor companies establish overseas facilities, Taiwan will remain the hub for R&D and innovation. He added that everyone should have confidence in Taiwan.

Wei also announced record-breaking financial performance in 2025. The company’s stock price more than doubled and cash dividends grew by over 30 percent. He said that was due to surging demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, which will drive TSMC’s growth in the coming years.

Wei said that TSMC will continue to maintain its three core strengths: technological leadership, production efficiency, and customer trust. This supports the goal of remaining the number one in the world.
