President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) encouraged representatives of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Peace Corps, saying that by choosing to face challenges head-on, they’ll discover a new potential in themselves, as well as true generosity, tolerance, and how to listen to diverse voices. The President also gave a special send-off to volunteers about to leave for Eswatini, Taiwan’s only African diplomatic ally, emphasizing its value as a place worth visiting.

This summer, just under a thousand young volunteers will travel to Asia, Africa, and Europe to engage in overseas and digital service, funded by the Education Ministry. The president met with representatives for the Youth Overseas Peace Corps at the Presidential Office, noting that their enthusiasm and kindness would soon be spread to 20 other countries over the summer.

President Lai said that by serving others with their own hands in rural education, providing medical aid, digital exchange, or frontline cultural exchange, the volunteers will become the face of Taiwan’s deepening connections with the world. He added that he believes it's the government’s responsibility to assist young people in chasing their dreams, especially if it takes them abroad.
