Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) concluded her state visit to Palau and returned to Taiwan late on Wednesday, June 10.

Hsiao said after arriving at Taoyuan International Airport that the mission entrusted to her by President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) had been a success. She highlighted three takeaways from the visit: the closeness of the bond between Taiwan and Palau, the breathtaking beauty of the island nation, which more Taiwanese people should experience themselves, and the achievements of Taiwan-Palau cooperation projects, which show Taiwan’s capacity to contribute to the international community.

Hsiao said Taiwan is in a challenging international position and faces constant pressure. She agreed with President Lai’s previous statements that Taiwanese people are citizens of the world and have the right to engage with the global community. Hsiao also thanked the Palauan government for its support and assistance during her visit.
