Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi (陳明祺) met with Paraguay’s Minister of Information and Communication Technologies Gustavo Villate and visited the site of the Taiwan-Paraguay sovereign AI data center project. That came in a Foreign Ministry press release on Saturday, June 20.

The joint data center project was one of the main items on Chen’s agenda for his visit in Paraguay from June 14 to 19. It also included other collaborative projects involving electric buses, healthcare, education, and industry. 

Chen said the sovereign AI data center project will employ high-level tech talent trained by the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University. It will effectively convert Paraguay’s energy resources into computing power, drive youth employment, and give momentum to economic growth.

Villate said he expects this project to drive the transformation of Paraguay’s technology industry and become the center of the country’s next-generation development.
