A delegation from Paraguay’s Alto Paraná is visiting Taiwan from Monday, June 22, to Thursday, June 25. The group, led by Departmental Council President Gustavo Soria, will tour government offices and administrations, and other relevant facilities to get firsthand experience of Taiwan’s current development in economy, technology, and public health.

The delegation hails from Paraguay’s Alto Paraná, which is also the location of the Taiwan-Paraguay Smart Technology Park. According to the Foreign Ministry (MOFA), the delegation came at the invitation of the government. 

While in Taiwan, they will visit the Taipei City Council, Yilan City Government, and the Economic Ministry’s Foreign Trade Administration, among others. Outside of government, they will also visit the National Palace Museum, Hsinchu Science Park, and Liberty Square.

MOFA said that Taiwan and Paraguay share a long-standing and friendly relationship, with close cooperation in many fields. The Alto Paraná, especially as the country’s foreign trade hub, serves as a major residence and business center for Taiwanese expats.

Taiwan is currently leveraging government policies and public-private partnerships to boost Taiwanese businesses in overseas markets, including Paraguay’s local industrial transformation. The end goal is to improve local economic development, create employment opportunities, and give Taiwan a foothold in countries around the world.
