Artistic gymnast Tang Chia-hung (唐嘉鴻), nicknamed the “King of Cats,” competed in the gymnastics horizontal bar category final on Monday. Despite making an error in his routine, he finished with a total score of 13.966, tying with Chinese gymnast Zhang Boheng (張博恆) for the bronze medal.

Tang had previously finished 2nd with a score of 14.933 in the qualifying round on July 27. Notably, he is competing in the Olympics after suffering an Achilles tendon rupture in February 2023 that prevented him from competing for seven months.

Tang won Taiwan’s first silver medal in gymnastics in the floor exercise at the Jakarta Asian Games in 2018, as well as a gold medal in the horizontal bar category. He won Taiwan’s first gold medal in this category at the Napoli FISU Summer World University Games the following year. In 2020, he finished 7th place in the men’s all-around final, achieving the best-ever result for a Taiwanese athlete in the individual all-around.
