Ten local governments across northern and eastern Taiwan, including Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu city and county, Miaoli, Yilan, Hualien, and Matsu, have announced that offices and schools will be closed on Friday, July 10 as Typhoon Bavi approaches the island. 

Meanwhile, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) is maintaining a maritime typhoon warning for Typhoon Bavi. Based on the current track prediction, a land typhoon warning is expected to be issued around early Friday morning, potentially covering areas like Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, and Hualien. The most severe impacts of the typhoon are expected from Friday night through Saturday.

The CWA initially issued the maritime warning for Typhoon Bavi Thursday afternoon. As of 8 p.m Thursday, Bavi’s center was located about 860 kilometers east-southeast of Taiwan’s southern tip.

The approaching typhoon has triggered transportation disruptions. Taoyuan International Airport has announced that Taiwanese carriers China Airlines and EVA Air will suspend all flights from 6 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Sunday. Starlux Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan have also canceled their Saturday flights.

Taiwan High Speed ​​Rail Corporation confirmed that all trains will operate normally on Friday. Taiwan Railway Corporation (TRC) also announced that all trains will operate as usual until 6 p.m. Friday, except train 452. However, all TRC tourism trains will be suspended through Saturday.
