Nearly all local governments across Taiwan have announced that work and schools will be suspended on Saturday, July 11, as Typhoon Bavi approaches. The closures cover Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Yilan, Hualien, Penghu, Matsu, as well as Taitung’s Orchid and Green Islands.

Anticipating the storm’s impact, Taiwan Railway Corporation (TRC) will suspend all train services until noon Saturday. The only exceptions are the express trains between Changhua and Chaozhou, and the Shalun Line, which will operate as usual. TRC will announce its service schedule for Saturday afternoon on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Taiwan High Speed ​​Rail Corporation (THSRC) will run three unreserved, all-stop trains per hour in both directions between Nangang and Zuoying throughout Saturday. THSRC will operate five additional morning trains from Taichung. Three northbound trains will depart at 6:09 a.m., 6:29 a.m. and 6:49 a.m., while two southbound trains will leave at 6:20 a.m. and 6:50 a.m.
