As Typhoon Bavi gradually moves away from Taiwan, work and school will resume across most of the island starting Sunday, July 12. Taiwan High Speed ​​Rail Corporation (THSRC) announced Saturday evening that its trains will return to regular schedules on Sunday. Similarly, Taiwan Railway Corporation (TRC) confirmed that its trains will operate normally on Sunday, with minor exceptions on specific branch lines.

According to the Central Weather Administration (CWA), as of 9:15 p.m. Saturday, the center of Typhoon Bavi was located approximately 310 kilometers north of Taipei, moving northwest at a speed of 26 to 19 km/h. A land warning remains in effect for New Taipei, Keelung, Taipei, Yilan, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Matsu. 

In a press release, the THSRC stated that based on a comprehensive assessment, all lines will operate normally on Sunday, with trains departing according to the timetable. However, to ensure operational safety, speed limits will be enforced on certain sections if wind and rain become too severe. 

TRC also announced that all lines will operate as usual on Sunday, July 12 with exceptions being suspended services on the Pingxi Line as well as the Neiwan Line segment between Zhuzhong and Neiwan.

Passengers who purchased tickets during the typhoon warning period can get a refund within one year of the travel date by presenting unused tickets at any station without additional charge, both operators added.

Whilst most of the country reopens, local governments announced that work and schools will remain suspended on Sunday in certain areas. These closures include Taoyuan’s Fuxing District, Hsinchu’s Wufeng and Jianshi Townships, Miaoli’s Tai'an, Nanzhuang, and Shitan Townships, Taichung’s Heping District, Hualien’s Fenglin Township, Wanrong and Mingli Villages, and Matsu.
