Taiwan will continue seeking cooperation opportunities with Central and Eastern European countries, including Slovakia, in fields like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and electric vehicles, transforming good diplomatic relations into industrial development, investment, and employment. That came from Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung’s (林佳龍) social media post on Thursday, August 6.

Lin met with the visiting former Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok on Wednesday. According to Lin’s reflections on the meeting, Korčok argued that in the face of a rapidly changing world, traditional models of diplomacy must evolve. He said that in the era of instant access to information, diplomatic work cannot be limited to gathering information and writing reports, but rather create genuine benefits for the people. Korčok argued that diplomacy should drive investment and create jobs through international cooperation.

Lin said he believes diplomacy cannot remain confined to conference rooms, banquet halls, or stacks of documents on a desk. Instead, it must translate ideals into concrete action, so that both the public and allied nations can enjoy the fruits of diplomatic achievement. He added that Taiwan will continue seeking cooperation opportunities with Central and Eastern European countries in semiconductors, AI, and electric vehicles, working to translate good diplomatic relations into industrial development, investment, and employment.
