Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Godwin Friday arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday, August 11, for the first state visit to the country since taking office. The visit coincides with the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Saint Vincent and Taiwan on August 15, 1981.

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) personally greeted Friday at Taoyuan International Airport and hosted a welcome luncheon for the delegation. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) welcomed Friday with military honors in front of the Presidential Office and a state banquet on Tuesday evening.

Lin said in a social media post that Friday has proposed four major policy directions since taking office: agriculture, tourism, the blue economy, and the new economy. Lin said those closely align with Taiwan’s Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project, which aims to deepen relations with allies and like-minded countries, help the development of diplomatic allies, and consolidate diplomatic ties. Taiwan will, therefore, continue supporting Saint Vincent’s national development vision, helping to create more development and employment opportunities through investment, talent cultivation, and industrial cooperation.
