Indonesian tourism to Taiwan has seen a 9% increase since last year, said Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Surabaya Director General Lin Wen-chiun (林文俊). Tourism officials say creating Muslim-friendly tourism is an important task for Taiwan in expanding the market.

According to Tourism Administration statistics, the number of Indonesian tourists visiting Taiwan reached 235,148 in 2025, a 4.75% increase from the previous year. The overall Indonesian outbound tourism market is also recovering, with the number of outbound tourists reaching 9,165,894 in 2025, an increase of 2.39% from the year before.

TETO Director General Lin stated Indonesian society’s perception of Taiwan has gradually shifted from work and business to family travel. Lin pointed to Taiwan’s stable social climate and prices as driving factors in the growth of tourism to Taiwan.

Creating a Muslim-friendly tourism environment is an important task for Taiwan in expanding its Indonesian tourism market, says Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Jakarta Director Chou Shih-pi (周士弼). He said Taiwan will continue to increase the number of halal-certified restaurants, Muslim-friendly hotels, and prayer rooms to make Muslim tourists’ visits to Taiwan more convenient.

This Thursday through Saturday promotion activities are scheduled to take place at the Lippo Mall Puri shopping center in Jakarta through the Taiwan Travel Fair. The event will target general consumers, reaching out to local residents through Taiwan-themed exhibitions, interactive activities, and tourism information displays.
