Entry permits for foreigners receive automatic 3-month extension

Foreign nationals with entry permits that expire between May 19 and June 30 are receiving an automatic 3-month extension. That was the word from the labor ministry on Tuesday.

The move is aimed to make things easier for Taiwanese employers in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. They will not need to apply for this extension. A recent spike in domestically-transmitted cases led to a ban on foreign nationals from entering Taiwan beginning May 19.

It is expected that about 8,500 employers will benefit from the move.
