The legislature has launched an “Open Parliament Action Plan” online. The plan was promoted by Open Government Partnership (OGP), an international organization that aims to transform how governments serve their citizens.

At a press conference marking the official launch on Tuesday, Legislature President You Si-kun said the legislature will abide by OGP’s core values such as transparency, participation, accountability and inclusion. That’s despite the fact that Taiwan is not an OGP member.

You said the legislature will conduct exchanges with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) on Open Parliament and Open Information this year.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said the action plan demonstrates the government’s determination to promote Open Government. Wu said it also serves as an opportunity for Taiwan to strengthen its link to the world.
