President Tsai Ing-wen has been featured on the Bloomberg 50, which has dubbed her “Taiwan’s Covid Crusher.” The Bloomberg 50 is an annual listing of the most influential people in the fields of business, finance, technology, the environment, politics, and entertainment. President Tsai joins the likes of singer Billie Eilish, American physician Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Korean director Bong Joon-ho on the list.

The Bloomberg 50 piece on Tsai says that the president successfully responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. It says that Taiwan has not seen a domestic case of COVID-19 for over 200 days thanks to Tsai’s leadership.

The article also says that even though Tsai was seeking reelection in January, as the pandemic began, her administration still made time to handle COVID-19 by implementing travel restrictions and outlining social distancing guidelines. Bloomberg says that Tsai’s efforts may make Taiwan one of the only economies in the world to show positive growth in 2020.
