The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) is developing a new tool to help investors engage in rational discussion and analysis during periods of market volatility. The new “dashboard” will cover three main areas: data on margin lending and credit operations, statistics on investor default reporting, and revenue and fundamental trends for listed and OTC companies.
In an interview published on September 13, TWSE Chairman Sherman Lin (林修銘) said that thanks to Taiwan’s strong semiconductor and AI supply chains, Taiwan’s stock market capitalization has risen to fifth place globally. He said this signified a dramatic shift from a “technology island” to a “capital island.”
Responding to investor demand, the TWSE is developing the “Taiwan Stock Dashboard,” under the guidance of the Financial Supervisory Commission. The tool aims to ensure the stability and safety of Taiwan’s capital market through greater data transparency and stronger risk education.
Lin said the tool will use statistics, charts, and trend projections to help investors look at market changes rationally. In addition to transparent information, the dashboard will also clearly disclose the definitions of various data points and indicators. It will give investors a comprehensive understanding of overall market conditions, let them make informed investment and trading decisions, as well as appropriately manage risks and their personal credit exposure.
Lin also addressed concerns over risk and leverage levels, saying that the overall margin trading and leverage in Taiwan’s stock market remain relatively healthy. He said that among the 14.6 million accounts opened as of July 2026, only about 290,000 account holders had outstanding balance from margin financing or unrestricted-use loans. That represents less than 2 percent of all accounts. Lin also noted that for the first seven months of this year, margin trading on the listed market accounted for only 6.09 percent of total transaction value.
