Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported on Wednesday, September 30, that Germany’s Allianz Group released its 2026 Allianz Global Wealth Report. According to the document, Taiwan’s net per capita financial assets reached €164,470 (US$186,144). This puts Taiwan fifth in the world, the same position as the previous year, behind only the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, and Singapore.

The Allianz Global Wealth Report examined household assets and liabilities across nearly 60 countries. It found that global household wealth reached a historic high of €268.4 trillion (US$303.8 trillion) in 2025. It also noted that asset ownership is becoming increasingly important in determining who stands to benefit from future wealth creation.

The report found that the annual wealth growth rate rose to 8.6 percent last year and is projected to maintain 9 percent this year. It did, however, caution that the medium-term macroeconomic environment is gradually becoming more challenging, due to slowing economic growth, persistent inflation, geopolitical fragmentation, and high levels of government debt weighing on asset returns.

At the end of 2025, Taiwanese households’ total financial assets grew by 8.7 percent to €4.5 trillion (US$5.1 trillion). This marked a slowdown from 9.3 percent in 2024, and was below the 9.8 percent average for other Asian markets covered in the report, excluding Japan and China. Adjusted for inflation, Taiwan’s financial assets grew by 6.9 percent in 2025, roughly similar to 7 percent the year before.

According to the report, securities saw the strongest growth at 17.7 percent, outpacing deposits at 4.9 percent and insurance and pension funds at 2.4 percent. This pushed securities’ share of Taiwanese household asset distribution up to 34.9 percent. This figure is higher than the Asian regional average of 30.8 percent, but still below the global average of 46.9 percent.
