President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) met with the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Chair Laura Rosenberger on Monday.

In her welcoming remarks, Tsai noted that this is Rosenberger's fifth visit to Taiwan since she took office just over a year ago. She thanked Rosenberger for actively and enthusiastically deepening the U.S.-Taiwan relations with concrete actions.

Reflecting on cooperation between the two countries over the past year, Tsai mentioned that the first batch of the U.S.-Taiwan 21st Century Trade Initiative agreements has been signed, marking a new milestone for U.S.-Taiwan trade. She also highlighted that Taiwan signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on international development cooperation with the U.S. in February, and the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, was recently passed.

Tsai expressed that these actions can help build a comprehensive U.S.-Taiwan partnership. She thanked the U.S. government and Congress for their efforts to enhance cooperation and safety between both sides. Taiwan, she stated, will continue working with the U.S. and other democratic countries to ensure regional peace, stability, and promote global development and prosperity. Tsai concluded that she hopes Taiwan will continue to deepen cooperation in economic and digital security.

Rosenberger remarked that U.S.-Taiwan relations have taken significant steps forward this year, highlighting cooperation in various fields such as international development, education, economy, and democratic governance. She emphasized that Taiwan is a crucial partner of the U.S., adding that U.S.-Taiwan relations are based on bipartisan consensus and will remain rock-solid.
