With the January 13, 2024, presidential and vice presidential election closing in, candidates are expected to see each other in several forums and debates in the coming days.
The first forum was broadcast on Formosa Television at 7 p.m. Wednesday with the presidential candidates Lai Ching-te (賴清德) of the DPP, the KMT’s Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) the TPP’s Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) giving the first policy presentations.
The forums allow the candidates to present their policies during three rounds of 10 minutes each. Although the forums are not debates, candidates still have room to question the other parties and defend their positions.
The second and third rounds of the forum are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Dec. 26 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 28 and will be televised on China Television and Taiwan Television, respectively.
Vice presidential candidates will also have a separate forum. DPP&39;s Jaw Shaw-kong (趙少康) and TPP's Cynthia Wu (吳欣盈) will be giving their presentations at 7 p.m. on Dec. 22, to be broadcast on the Taiwan Public Television Service (PTS). All of the forums will also be available on the CEC website.
Debates have also been scheduled, with the presidential election debate to be held on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. The vice presidential election debate has been tentatively scheduled for Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. The debates will be made available on TV, radio and online media through simultaneous news feeds.
