Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) Chair Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) has revealed he will visit the United States in April. Ko is the former mayor of Taipei and the trip is seen as a precursor to a presidential run.

Ko made the remarks at a Mazu event on Monday, when he revealed he would be in the United States during the Mazu pilgrimage in April.

TPP Secretary-General Tom Chou (周台竹) says Ko will leave before April 10 and stay in the United States for three weeks. Ko’s plans include visiting Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, and Taipei’s sister cities.

Chou says Ko will meet with US State Department officials and senators to explain his foreign policies and China policy.  He says the trip will be similar to those made by other political parties and he cannot reveal further details.
