Taiwan’s APEC representative meets with US vice president and other high-level US officials

Taiwan’s representative to APEC, TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀), met with several high-level United States government officials during the APEC summit in San Francisco this week, including Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Wednesday local time, Chang and Taiwan representative to the U.S. Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Taiwan’s APEC delegation later said that the conversation included several economic and political issues and that both sides looked forward to deepening economic relations. 

On Thursday local time, Chang met with National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard. Both Blinken and Brainard were among the officials present at the meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) on Thursday. 

Later on Thursday, Chang met with US Vice President Kamala Harris. According to Deputy Secretary-General to the President Alex Huang (黃重諺), the two discussed several topics but focused was on increasing economic cooperation.
