Due to Typhoon Gaemi, the 23rd Comic Exhibition, originally scheduled for opening on July 25, was officially launched today at the World Trade Center in Taipei. Despite the delay, the organizer is confident the event will attract more visitors than last year, which took place amid Typhoon Doksuri.

The exhibition is organized by the Chinese Animation and Comics Publishers Association (CACPA). Roger Kao (高世椿), the association’s secretary-general, said there are about 150 exhibitors at more than 1,200 booths: an increase of 20% from last year. Like last year, this year’s event combines the Taiwan Gamers Convention International and the Taipei Movie and Toys Convention.

A highlight for the 2024 Comic Expo is the debut of “Taiwan’s Comic Museum”: a gallery demonstrating Taiwanese comic author’s creativity established by Taiwan Creative Content Agency. Another highlight is the virtual reality music show created by SpringFish and HTC, bringing VTubers’ original works to live audiences. On the gaming side, the expo showcases “The Legend of Three Kingdoms”, a popular original video game developed by the Taiwanese company UserJoy Technology.

According to the organizer, last year’s event attracted 640,000 visitors. Although the first day’s events were canceled, the organizer expects to exceed that number in 2024.
